From Fear to Fire: The Great Commission

The Great Commission is not just something we know, it’s something we live
1) The Call: We are to Go!
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations…’” Matthew 28:18-19a
– Discipleship is not just about receiving Christ’s love; it’s about sharing it.
2) The Mission: Make Disciples
“…baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19b-20a
– Discipleship is not a moment… it’s a process.
– Discipleship is not something we outsource to the church… it’s something we embody as the Church.
This mission has two main components:
1: Baptizing: Public Commitment to Christ
2: Teaching: teach others to follow Christ, in obedience
3) The Promise of His Presence
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20b
“Peace be with you” -John 20:21
– Our confidence is not meant to come from our own ability to carry the mission forward. It comes from His presence that sustains us in it
